Author Guidelines
The American Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies (AJIS) welcomes original, high-quality, and well-structured manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of interdisciplinary research. The journal encourages submissions that identify topical and timely issues, develop problem-oriented discussions, and provide practical, research-based solutions. Manuscripts should be clearly written, avoiding unnecessary technical jargon while maintaining scholarly rigor and appropriate citations.
All submissions must adhere to the AJIS formatting guidelines. Manuscripts that do not conform to these guidelines may be returned without review for reformatting.
1. Accepted Manuscript Types
AJIS publishes a variety of manuscript types, including:
✅ Original Research Articles – Empirical or theoretical studies that introduce novel research contributions.
✅ Review Articles – Systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and critical evaluations of existing literature.
✅ Case Studies – Practical applications, industry insights, and real-world problem-solving.
✅ Technical Reports – Studies detailing new methodologies, emerging technologies, or experimental findings.
✅ Extended Conference Papers – Revised and expanded versions of conference presentations with significant new content.
2. Manuscript Preparation Guidelines
Formatting & Structure
- Font & Spacing: 12-point Times New Roman, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins on all sides.
- Word Count: 5,000 – 8,000 words (excluding references, tables, and figures).
- Title Page: Should include:
- Title of the manuscript
- Author(s)’ full name(s), affiliation, postal address, email, and phone number.
- Clearly indicate the corresponding author for multi-author submissions.
- Abstract: Max 300 words, summarizing the research, methodology, and findings. Include 4-6 keywords.
- Headings & Subheadings: Clearly labeled, structured logically, and formatted as follows:
- First-level headings: Bold, centered, all capital letters.
- Second-level headings: Bold, centered, upper and lowercase letters.
- Figures & Tables: Each should appear on a separate page after the references with clear labels and descriptions. Indicate placement within the text using [Insert Table 1 here].
- Referencing Style: APA (7th Edition) or IEEE, with in-text citations and a reference list following the appropriate format.
3. Ethical Considerations & Plagiarism Policy
AJIS upholds the highest ethical standards in publishing and adheres to COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
- Plagiarism & Data Fabrication: Submissions undergo automated plagiarism detection before peer review. Manuscripts with significant plagiarism (>10%) will be rejected immediately.
- Duplicate Submission: Manuscripts must not be under review in another journal or previously published.
- Authorship Ethics: All listed authors must have significantly contributed to the manuscript. Ghost or honorary authorship is strictly prohibited.
- Conflict of Interest: Authors must declare financial, institutional, or personal conflicts that may affect the research.
- Research Integrity: Any study involving human or animal subjects must comply with ethical research standards, with documented approval from relevant bodies.
4. Peer Review & Editorial Process
AJIS follows a double-blind peer review process to ensure fairness, objectivity, and academic rigor.
- Editorial Screening: Initial assessment by the editorial team for relevance and compliance with submission guidelines.
- Peer Review: Two or more independent reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on originality, methodology, clarity, and contribution to knowledge.
- Revisions & Final Decision: Authors may receive feedback requesting minor or major revisions before final acceptance.
Review Timeline:
- Initial editorial assessment: 7–10 days
- Peer review process: 8–12 weeks
- Author revisions: 2–4 weeks
- Final decision & publication: 2–3 weeks after acceptance
The Editorial Board’s decision is final regarding manuscript acceptance or rejection.
5. Manuscript Submission Process
Submission Email: Submit manuscripts electronically to editor.ajis@americanscholarly.us with the following:
- Cover Letter – Highlighting the manuscript’s significance, originality, and research contribution.
- Manuscript File – In Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX format following journal guidelines.
- Conflict of Interest Statement – If applicable, declare any conflicts.
6. Copyright & Licensing
AJIS follows an Open Access policy, ensuring free global accessibility to all published articles.
- Author Rights & Licensing:
- Authors retain copyright and grant the journal a license to publish.
- Articles are published under a Creative Commons License (CC BY-NC-ND), allowing non-commercial distribution and reuse with proper citation.
- Authors may share their published work under the terms of this license.

7. Use of AI in Scientific Writing
AJIS acknowledges the role of AI tools in manuscript preparation. However, authors should only use AI-assisted technologies for improving readability and language clarity.
- AI tools must not be listed as authors or used for generating content without human oversight.
- If AI tools were used in manuscript preparation, authors must disclose their use in a "Declaration of AI Use" section before the References.
Example statement:
"During the preparation of this work, the authors used [AI TOOL NAME] to enhance language clarity. The authors reviewed and edited the final content and take full responsibility for its accuracy."
8. Article Processing Charges (APC)
To cover publishing costs, DOI registration, and open-access hosting, AJIS charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) of $200 per accepted article.
✅ Discounts & Waivers: Available for students, early-career researchers, and authors from developing countries on a case-by-case basis.
✅ Payment Process: Payment details will be provided upon manuscript acceptance.

9. Important Notes for Authors
- Proofreading: Authors must carefully proofread manuscripts before submission to ensure clarity, grammar accuracy, and formatting consistency.
- Submission Limit: Authors may submit a maximum of three manuscripts per calendar year.
- Multiple Submissions Policy: Authors must not submit the same manuscript to multiple journals
- Publication Timeline: Articles typically appear online within 8-12 months after final acceptance.

Submission Preparation Checklist
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
- This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
- This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
- All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
- All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
- Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
